World Environment Day observed

The World Environment Day was observed here as elsewhere in the country with a view to create awareness about the environmental pollution among the common people on Monday.
This year’s theme of the day is ‘Solutions to Plastic Pollution’.
A colourful rally was brought out in the town with the participation of students, teachers, NGO workers and government officials under the joint auspices of Manikganj District administration and District office of the Department of Environment on this occasion.
After the rally, a discussion was held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Office.
DC Muhammad Abdul Latif was present at the function as chief guest.
The discussion was presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Gen) Sanwarul Haque where Additional Superintendent of Police (Adi-SP) Sadar Circle Quamrul Hasan, Deputy Director of the Department of Narcotic Control Md. Hamimur Rashid, Assistant Professor Khan Bahadur Awlad Hossai Khan College Dr. Mujibur Rahman, BRAC representative Md. Omar Faruque and BASIK representative Rasheda Akter among others spoke on the occasion.
Deputy Director of the Department of Environment Md. Saiful Islam delivered the welcome speech at the beginning of the discussion.
The speakers urged the people to be aware to avoid the destructive impact of environment pollution, mainly reducing the use of plastic goods.
Prizes were distributed among the winners of the painting and essay competitors.
On this occasion, more than 2000 fruits, wood and medicinal saplings were distributed among the students, teachers and general people.

Cleanliness activities has conducted at Dashuriya Intersection of Ishwardi by students on the occasion of goldren jubilee celebration of World Environment Day.
A colorful educational event was organized in the high school grounds with the participation of thousands of students and locals.

Nina Dentsova said that this year’s theme for Environment Day is ‘Solution to Plastic Pollution’. Today the world is flooded with plastic materials. 40 million tons of plastic are produced every year, half of which is used once and thrown away. This plastic waste has become a serious threat to the present environment. Keeping this theme in mind, a special program has been undertaken in the Rooppur nuclear project area.
Alexander Beybekov said, another goal of this program in the nuclear project area from June 5 to 7 is to highlight the positive aspects of nuclear energy. As a low-carbon and reliable source of electricity in today’s world, nuclear power plants are on the one hand protecting the world from the horrors of climate change. On the other hand, the earth’s ecosystem is also playing a significant role in recovery.
It is known that these programs are designed and managed by the Nuclear Information Center in Ishwar. General designer and contractor of Rooppur NPP Etamostroyexport (engineering arm of Rosatom) is providing all round support.

District Administration, Department of Environment (DoE), TIB-Sanak, BRAC NGO Forum, and Environment Protect Forum have arranged various programme in Kishoreganj like rally, discussion, human chain marking the day.
A discussion meeting was held at Collectorade Conference Room on Monday. DC in Kishoreganj, Md. Abul Kalam Azad attended there as chief guest and Zila Parishad chairman and Awami League district president advocate Zillur Rahman, Civil Surgeon Dr. Saiful Islam, Additional SP (Crime, Ops) Md. Al -Amin and DD in NSI Md. Iqbal special guests, while ADC (General) Rubel Mahamud in the chair.
It was addressed among others by, Chamber president Mujibur Rahman Belal , CAB district president Alam.

Feni Deputy Commissioner Abu Salim Mahmud Ul Hasan was the chief guest in the meeting held in DC Conference Room under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Masuudur Rahman. Golam Md Baten, Deputy Director of Local Government, was the special guest.
