Month-long tree fair inaugurated in Mymensingh

A month-long tree fair has begun at the Town Hall premises of the city under the initiative of Mymensingh City Corporation (MCC). MCC Mayor Md Ekramul Haque Titu inaugurated the fair on Friday.
In 25 stalls of this fair, various varieties of fruits, forest, flowering and beautifying trees are available. The fair will continue till June 25 from 10 am to 8 pm every day.
During the inauguration, the mayor said that tree fair is organized every year by the initiative of Mymensingh City Corporation with the aim of protecting the balance of the environment, encouraging tree planting and introducing the new generation to trees. Besides, entrepreneurs are also encouraged through this arrangement, which contributes to employment generation.
He also said that people are now planting trees on house roofs, courtyards and empty spaces. This fair will accelerate all these initiatives, which will play a role in building a green Mymensingh.
During the inauguration, Chief Executive Officer Md. Yusuf Ali, Panel Mayor 3 Shamima Akhtar, Councilors Syed Shafiqul Islam Mintu and Selina Akhtar, Chief Accounting Officer Asim Saha, leaders of Nursery Owners Association, journalists etc. were present.
