Husband dies, wife injured
A newly married couple was recovered in dying condition from a rented house in the village Harinkhana under Bagerhat Pourashava on Thursday afternoon. But the husband Moniruzzaman Moni alias Aliraj died on the way to the Hospital. Seriously injured wife Mishkatul was admitted to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for treatment. But the father of deceased Aliraj claimed that his son had been murdered. Deceased Moniruzzaman Moni alias Aliraj was the son of one Abdul Halim of village Mathardanga under Keshabpur Upazila in Jashohar district. He was a SSC examinee from a High School in Pabna district while seriously injure wife Mishkatul is the daughter of one Moniruzzaman Mir of village Barshibawa under Morrelganj Upazila in Bagerhat district and a student of Class-XII of a college in the district.It is guessed that, perhaps, a strong love affair was developed between the two through the internet and as a result, they were united through the marriage in Dhaka on April 25, 2023 secretly and suppressing their actual ages. The couple had been residing in a tin shed house belonging to one Nekbar Mollik of village Harinkhana under Bagerhat Pourashava for the last 7/8 days. It is also guessed that the marriage was, perhaps, not accepted by the any of the two families. As a result, Mishkatul tried to commit suicide taking the sleeping tablets at Wednesday night. About the death of Aliraj his wife Mishkatul who is now under treatment in Bagerhat Sadar Hospital told, due to the love affair we got married secretly. She added, at the night (Wednesday) a serious quarrel took place between me and my husband and at one stage I cut my hands with blades and took 20 sleeping tablets at a time. Father of Aliraj told, they (Aliraj and Mishkatul) fled away to Dhaka where they got married without my knowledge. I came to know the matter after a long. I was ready to accept the marriage. But Mishkatul and her guardians confined my son and murdered him. I want justice for the murder of my son.Mahmud Hasan, Additional Police Super, Bagerhat Sadar Circle, told the dead body was sent to the morgue of Bagerhat Sadar Hospital in order to ascertain whether it is a case of suicide or homicide. He added the wife of the deceased who is now taking treatment at the Sadar Hospital is under police guard.
Uumbrellas distributed among children
Under the auspices of a NGO named World Vision 1 piece umbrella and 2 pieces soaps were distributed to each of the as many as 2,500 registered and unregistered children of the 6 Union Parishads (of Morrelganj Upazila) free of cost in a ceremony held in the Office Room of Baraikhali Union Parishad under Morrelganj Upazila in Bagerhat district on Thursday noon.
In the ceremony Abdul Awal Khan Maharaj, UP Chairman was presented as the chief guest while Ripon Haldar .Programme Officer, World Vision, Md. Nizam Uddin, UP member and Biplob Hossain President of Village Development Committee were present as special guests.
Body of easy-bike driver recovered
A floating dead body was recovered by the police from a fish farm in the village Nashukhali under Mollahat Upazila in Bagerhat district on Wednesday morning (at about 11 am), according to a report received here. The dead body was identified as Zihad Ali Shaikh (25), son of one Abu Taleb Shaikh of village Sarulia within Gawla Union under Mollhat Upazila (in Bagerhat district). He was an easy-bike driver. It is learnt from the police that some locals found the dead body floating in a fish farm at Naldangi area by the side of Nshukhali-Gangni Road of the Upazila and informed the police of Mollahat PS of the matter.
