UK BNP leader’s house vandalized, threaten

The Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived in the United Kingdom (UK) as part of a three-nation visit on May 4 of this month.

Then the UK BNP, Zia Parishad and other leaders and activists of affiliated organisation holds a protest rally in London against the PM’s visit. As a result of that incident, there have been allegations that several leaders’ houses in Bangladesh were attacked and vandalized recently.

Among the BNP leaders staying in London who were attacked and vandalized are UK BNP President MA Malik, UK Zia Parishad General Secretary Mongur Hassan Poltu, Jubodol President M A Rahim, Secretary Afzal Hossain, Sechchasebak Dal President Nasir Hossain Shahin, Secretary Abul Hosain, Dr. Ferdusi Begum, Md. Maksudur Rahman Momin, Nandan Kumar Dey, Ahsanul Ambia Shovon, Md. Abul Kalam Azad, Md. Noor Ahmad Shuhel, Md. Muhibur Rahman Makon, Md. Wahiduzzaman, Md. Fayez Ullah, Abdul Kader Zilani, Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Tanvir-ur-Rashid, Azizul Rahman, Ridoy Gosh, Anwarul Islam, Md. Emran Ahmed, Miladur Rahman Liton, Samiul Hoque and Md. Nazmul Haque Tushar.

BNP leaders alleged that, they left the country to escape the persecution of the ruling government of Bangladesh. However, even their family members are not safe. The family members of many are being threatened in various ways.

A relative of UK Zia Parishad General Secretary Mongur Hassan Poltu complained that Poltu left the country in 2017 with his wife and children to escape from the persecution of the ruling party people and the harassment of law enforcement agencies. Several cases have been filed against him in Dhaka and Gazipur for political reasons. Recently, his village house in Katinga of Terokhada Upazila of Khulna was searched and extensively vandalized by members of law enforcement agencies.

During this time other members of the family were mistreated and physically assaulted.
