Celebrating 30 years of Dithi’s song today

Swadhinata Padak and Ekushey Padak winner renowned lyricist, producer, director and music composer Gazi Mazharul Anwar’s privileged daughter, Dithi Anwar is going to celebrate 30 years of her musical career. Organised by ‘Amra Surjomukhi,’ established in 1975, the programme will start
today at 6:00pm at the Poet Sufia Kamal Auditorium of the National Museum in Dhaka.

The programme will be
inaugurated by the President of Bangladesh National Museum Board of Trustees and former vice chancellor of Dhaka University Prof AAMS Arefin Siddiqui. Living legendary singer Syed Abdul Hadi will be present
as the chief guest in the event.

Shafiqul Islam Selim, Executive Director of ‘Amra Surjomukhi,’
will deliver the opening speech.
Apart from this, singer Dithi’s mother Zohra Gazi; noted lyricist Sahidullah Farayezi; Managing Director of Universal Medical College Dr Ashis Kumar Chakraborty; noted fashion designer Biplob Saha, among
others, will also give greetings on the occasion.

Dithi Anwar told this correspondent about 30 years of
her musical career and today’s arrangement, “At the beginning, I am thankful to Almighty Allah that He has kept me healthy and well. I sincerely give thanks to Selim Uncle for turning 30 years of my journey in the field of music into a festival. Undoubtedly, my father would be very happy if he was alive today. But I believe that Abbu (my father) is in everyone’s mind with his songs, all over Bengal and all over the world. Today I will listen to them some old songs written by my father. Besides, I will render those songs which were written by my father before his death. Apu and Yousuf will sing songs with me in the programme. I humbly invite everyone to come to the event.

I hope today’s event will be enjoyable and memorable.”
It is noted that Dithi’s music started when she was eight
years old. Her father bought her a harmonium at that age. In the beginning, she took training
in classical music from Ustad Yasin Hossain Khan.
Dithi Anwar first lent her voice for the playback in movie ‘Ulka’. Popular actress Moushumi
lip-synched with her song in that movie. Polash was Dithi’s
first co-singer in the duet song.
Dithi has released four solo albums so far. She has lent for playback songs in more
than 60 movies.
Dithi informed that ‘Dithi’r Khata,’ written by Dithi’s father, has 17 songs written for her. From there four to five songs have been completed. Those songs are
composed by Ahmed Kislu
and Apu Aman.
