14 cows, one shepherd died in Ishwardi due to lightning

A young man named Sajib Hossain (25) along with 14 cows died tragically in Ishwardi due to lightning. The incident took place at Padmar Char area of Kamalpur in Lakshikunda Union of Iswardi on Tuesday (May 16) around 7:30 pm. Sajib is the son of Alhaj Pramanik of Kamalpur village. Chairman of Lakshikunda UP Anisur Rahman Sharif confirmed that a very tragic incident has taken place.

Amjad Hossain of Kamalpur village said that Sajib went to Kamalpur Padma pasture with 41 cows on Tuesday morning like every day. Around 7:30 pm on the way back home, the wind and rain started. Sajib died on the spot along with 14 cows due to lightning. Locals rescued Sajib after the rain and brought him to the hospital where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Ishwardi police station Arvind Sarkar said at noon on Wednesday that Sajib was killed along with 14 cows due to lightning. Sajib’s body has been handed over to the family members.
