Tk 17 lakh looted from 4 people pretending as Major

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a fraudster named Abdur Razzak alias Sagar Chowdhury alias Zahid Chowdhury alias Sumir (31) in connection with the embezzlement of a large amount of money by pretending to be a major of the armed forces.
On Thursday, the fake Major was arrested in a raid in South Betdoba area of Kalihati, Tangail.

At that time, one set of Bangladesh Army Combat Uniform, one Army Combat Backpack, one Army Sea Nameplate, one Army Facemask, one Army Field Cap, one Army Badge Replica Wallet, 1 Motorcycle License, 5 Army Recruitment Fake appointment letter and medical certificate, 5 fake NID cards, 1 post office savings book, 1 bank receipt copy, 4 mobile phones and 11 SIM cards of different companies were recovered.

Additional DIG Mohammad Farid Uddin, the captain of RAB-10, confirmed the matter to the media on Saturday afternoon while speaking at a press briefing held at RAB’s Karwan Bazar media office.

Four victims have been identified as Shapla Khatun (25), Murshalina Khatun (26), Mita Khatun (27) and Jotsna Begum (27).

RAB officials said, accused Sagar demanded five lakh taka per person for the job as a nurse. According to that, on February 15, the victims sent a total of Tk 17 lakh cash to various numbers of Bikash given by Sagar.

After giving the money, the victims tried to communicate with Sagar.

But victims get Sagar’s Facebook ID deactivated and all mobile phone numbers blocked. After getting no further information about Sagar, the victims filed a general diary (GD) with Kamrangirchar Police Station and filed a complaint with RAB-10.
Based on this, Sagar was arrested in the continuation of the investigation.
