Teacher sentenced to life imprisonment in Barishal

A Barguna court sentenced a private teacher named Latif (45) to life imprisonment for the crime of
raping a class IV schoolgirl in Barguna.
At the same time, he was fined 20,000 taka, and sentenced to another six months in prison in default of payment.
On Monday (April 8) afternoon Mashiur Rahman, judge of the Women and Children Abuse Prevention Tribunal in Barguna , announced this verdict and long seven years trial.
According to the source of the case, on March 7, 2016, the victim schoolgirl went to teacher Latif's
house to study in Patharghata upazila under Barguna district. The child fell asleep on the teacher's bed when the night was too late to read.
On this occasion the accused teacher forcibly raped the child and as a result of the rape, the child suffered severe bleeding.
At that time, when the child fell ill, the accused teacher called the child's mother and informed about her sickness. Later the child's mother came and admitted the child to Patharghata Upazila Health Complex.
Then, on March 13 of the same year, the child's mother filed a case against teacher Latif in Barguna Women and Child Abuse Prevention Tribunal, alleging rape.
