City residents fed up with frequent uncoordinated road digging on roads

There is no end to the suffering of the city dwellers due to frequent uncoordinated digging on various roads and alleys of the capital. In addition to, the level of suffering has increased due to leaving work for a long time in some places, accidents are also happening there.
Basically, city dwellers are fed up with repeated potholes on the same road due to lack of coordination of various service agencies.
According to the information, after a few days, digging work again started in various roads and alleys of the capital city. In some places hanging cables are being taken from under the ground, and in some places, sewerage lines and WASA water lines are being renovated. Due to these reasons, there is no end to the suffering of the city dwellers.

In Lalbagh, it was seen on the spot that the digging work has been started in the main road of the area since the beginning of the year. But most of the work is left even passing couple of months. Due to incomplete work, the sufferings of the dwellers have been increased massively.

When asked, a worker of the service project told The New Nation that they are working to set up the new line of water which is supposed to bring from the mighty Padma river. It will take minimum two weeks to complete the task of the project, he said.

In Segunbagicha area of the capital, the drainage work of Suarez line started in the beginning of April. Even after months, the work is not finished. No one knows when the suffering will be relieved. As a result, most of the locals and pedestrians are fed up due lengthy process of the work.

Another name for suffering is the Central Road of the capital. This road has been dug up all year round. City Corporation conducts another round of vacays vehicle before Eid. Then the work stopped with the Eid holiday.

Several accidents have also experienced by the locals due to such potholes on the road.
The contracting companies are not paying attention to the rules. Due to their negligence, the city dwellers have been suffering massively since long time.

In this regard, Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Tapas said that no one will be allowed to dig on the road before the monsoon season. All ongoing works have been ordered to be completed before June.
He said that various organizations and authorities want to do the projects before June. Besides, the monsoons will be started in June. According to our policy, only those who get permission for the project by April 30 can implement it.
We are now very strict about this issue.
Locals, however, demand blacklisting of slow working contractors.
