More than 350,000 cubic feet of sand seized

Some three lakh fifty thousand cubic feet of sand were seized by the mobile court operation against illegal sand extraction from different points of two canals in Lohagarh Upazila on Sunday.Executive Magistrate and Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mohammad Shahjahan conducted the mobile court operation between 3 pm and 7.30 pm on Sunday.

Chunti Union Land Assistant Officer Md. Idris, Nazir Bajlur Rahman of Upazila Land Office, Nayan Das of Land Office along with members of Thana Police and members of Ansar forces were present during the operation.

Executive Magistrate and Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Lands) Mohammad Shahjahan said, “Influential people were extracting illegal sand in different wards of Chunti and Putibila Union of Upazila.”

Based on the news, the mobile court conducted an operation to collect 32 thousand 400 cubic feet from Jamtal of Ward No. 9 of Chunti Union, 36 thousand cubic feet from the north side of Killa Ghona Bazar, 61 thousand 500 cubic feet from the mouth of Char Farenga Canal in Gora, 43 thousand eight hundred and fifty cubic feet from the side of Pekkachari Bridge.
