Dhaka Abahani Limited retained their supremacy in Dhaka Premier League (DPL) beating Legends of Rupganj by four wickets in their Super League match at the BKSP Ground-3 in Savar on Sunday.
Dhaka Abahani led the points table collecting 26 points from 14 matches, while Legends of Rupganj took the third position earning 18 points from 14 matches.
Chasing Rupganj’s total of 230 in 47.2 overs, Dhaka Abahani Limited sailed home making 233 for the loss of six wickets when they had 10 overs to spare.
Dhaka Abahani made a good start as the two openers Anamul Haque and Mohammad Naim contributed together 72 runs in the opening stand before opener Anamul Haque (33) was trapped leg before wicket by Mashrafe Bin Mortaza.
After Anamul’s departure, Naim and Mahmudul Hasan Joy scored together 32 runs for the second wicket partnership before Naim was dismissed by Tanbir Hayder when Abahani’s score was 104 for the loss of two wickets.
Naim hit a run-a-ball 56 including six fours and a sixer.
After Naim’s departure, Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Afif Hossain added together 54 runs in the third wicket stand before Afif (33) was dismissed by Muktar Ali when Abahani’s total was 154 for the loss of three wickets.
After Afif’s dismissal, Mahmudul Hasan and Mosaddek Hossain added together 27 runs before Mosaddek Hossain ( 7) was bowled out by Abdul Halim when Abahani’s score was 185 for the loss of four wickets.
Mahmudul Hasan hit a polished 67. His 76-ball innings was studded with eight fours.
Later, Khushdil Shah and Nahidul Islam guided their team to anchor the winning spot adding together 21 runs for the unbroken seventh wicket partnership.
Muktar Ali was the most successful bowler of Legends of Rupganj who captured three wickets for 38 runs.
Earlier, Irfan Sukkur, Chirag Jani and Jawad Rayen shone with the willow scoring 52, 50 and 46 runs respectively.
Ripon Mondol of Dhaka Abahani Limited bowled extremely well. He claimed four wickets instead of 45 runs. He was adjudged the Man of the Match for his superb bowling attack. Khushdil Shah bagged two wickets for 42 runs.
