Low pressure likely to form over south bay by Monday: BMD

Bangladesh Meteorology Department (BMD) has predicted that a low pressure area is likely to form over the South Bay of Badngal by Monday.
It may start forming in the next 24 hours commencing 9:00am on Saturday, BMD officials said.

“A low pressure area is likely to form over Southeast Bay and its adjoining area by May 8 (Monday),” said Dr Abul Kalam Mallik, a meteorologist of BMD.
Meanwhile, a BMD weather bulletin said that trough of the Westerly low lies over West Bengal and adjoining areas. A low pressure area is likely to form over the South Bay of Bengal around 07 May (Sunday).

As an extended outlook for the next 72 hours, the bulletin predicted that the low pressure area is likely to intensify.
The BMD forecast said that there may be temporary squally winds or rain with thunder in one or two places in Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions.
It said also that a long with gusty winds, there may be scattered hailstorms in some parts of the country during the low pressure.

According to the Met Offices, day and night temperatures may rise slightly across the country due to the formation of the low pressure.
Weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country, officials said.
