Khaleda Zia returns home from Evercare Hospital

BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia on Thursday afternoon returned to her Gulshan residence from Evercare Hospital in the capital after five days of treatment and medical check-up for various physical problems.
“Begum Khaleda Zia leave the hospital for her home at 4:45pm after completing her medical treatment and check-up,” the BNP chairperson’s media wing member Shamsuddin Didar told The New Nation.
The BNP chief was admitted to the hospital on Saturday night for routine check-up and required medical treatment for her ailments.
BNP chief’s medical team member AZM Zahid Hossain said that the BNP Chairperson was kept in a cabin under close observation of doctors and her condition improved a little as she was given treatment as per the advice of her medical board.
The 77-year-old former Prime Minister has been suffering from various physical ailments, including liver cirrhosis, heart, diabetes, kidney, arthritis, lung, and eye problems.
The BNP chief has been receiving medical treatment at the hospital since her conditional release in 2020.
She has been receiving medical treatment there under a medical board headed by cardiologist Professor Shahabuddin Talukder.
The former Prime Minister visited the hospital for health check-up on February 27 last. She received treatment at the hospital six times since she was infected with Coronavirus in April 2021.
The BNP Chairperson was diagnosed with liver cirrhosis. On June 10, 2022, she suffered a heart attack due to a 95 per cent block in her left artery.
The BNP Chairperson was sent to prison as a lower court sentenced her to five years’ imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case on February 8, 2018.
The government temporarily freed her from jail during the coronavirus pandemic through an executive order on March 25, 2020, with conditions that she will not leave the country and will stay in her Gulshan house.
