Reconstruction of bridge needed in Kulaura

A bridge was constructed three years ago in Kairchak area of Bhukshimail Union of Kulaura Upazila beside Hakaluki Haor area in Moulvibazar. But for three years, thousands of people of four villages of the union have suffered as the bridge has been lying without a connecting road on both sides of the bridge. The locals expressed their anger and said that the bridge was built high without planning and the connecting road was made 6-7 feet lower than the bridge.
A Students of the local Kairchak Government Primary School travel through the bridge only during the monsoon season with great risk. At present, the bridge is not benefiting the locals as there is not enough soil on the connecting road on both sides of the bridge.
According to the Upazila Project Implementation Officer (PIO) office, this bridge was constructed at a cost of 30 lakh taka in the financial year 2018-19.
On the surface, it can be seen that the bridge built in the middle of Rajdara Canal in Kairchak area of Bhukshimail Union is laying like an isolated island. The connecting road on both sides is 6-7 feet lower than the bridge. People are crossing under the bridge as there is no water in the lower canal.
Anfar Ali Madhu, a member of Ward No. 7 of the Union Parishad, said that the bridge was built for the boys and girls of Jalalpur village in my ward to go to Kairchak Government Primary School.
