The Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) has informed the High Court that it has already recovered a total of 26,777 out of 30,000 clients’ documents regarding permission for construction of buildings those were missing from its server.
Lawyer Imam Hasan on behalf of the RAJUK placed a report regarding the issue before the High Court Bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Mohammad Showkat Ali Chowdhury complying with its earlier order.
Then the court directed the three-member inquiry committee formed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) regarding the issue to submit a report within 60 days of receiving the order. Besides, it has fixed July 9 for further hearing on the issue.
Senior lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan appeared in the court hearing on behalf of the Anti-Corruption Commission, while Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin Manik represented the state and lawyer Imam Hasan represented the Rajuk.
Imam Hasan said all the documents those were gone missing from RAJUK server have already been recovered. A BUET team helped them to recover the missing documents.
Following a news report the High Court on January 2 this year sought explanation over the reported incident of missing of around 30,000 clients’ documents regarding permission for construction of buildings from the server of RAJUK.
The court asked the RAJUK chairman to submit a report on whether the reported incident of missing of documents is authentic and what steps have been taken about it if the incident is true before the court in 30 days.
Complying with the court asking the RAJUK submitted a statement in the court on Tuesday. On the other hand, lawyer of the ACC informed the court that they have formed a three-member inquiry committee regarding the issue.
According to the published report, “Around 30,000 clients’ documents seeking permission for construction of buildings have been lost from the server of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartipakkha. The city building authorities came to know about the incident on 6 December.
However, RAJUK is still in dark as to whether this happened due to technical glitch or anyone did it intentionally. The authorities are yet to form a probe committee to investigate the incident in over three weeks, raising questions over the RAJUK’s sincerity to unearth the reason behind it.”
The lost documents are the clients’ applications for construction of permit from May 2019 to 6 December in 2022. RAJUK officials said people may face various hassles due to loss of these important documents, also read the report.
