Ukhia-Teknaf people in serious panic over kidnapping, ransom trade

The people of Ukhia and Teknaf areas have been terrified by the frequent kidnapping and ransom trade. One after another crime incident is occurring there despite having regular drives of law enforcements. In the last seven months, about 70 people were abducted from these hilly areas.
According to reliable sources, there are various crimes including drug and arms smuggling behind these kidnappings and ransom trade. And some local and Rohingya terrorists are also involved in these crimes.
Meanwhile, police said that several teams of law enforcers have been working to stop various crimes including the abduction and ransom in the hill areas.
Unidentified terrorists have abducted several persons again from Jahaspura Hills of Baharchhara Union of Teknaf. At this time, they injured two others with sharp weapons.
Local sources said armed terrorists abducted Rahim Uddin (32), son of one Bacha Mia, and Ridowan (19), son of one Sarwar while they were working on a pan barge in Jahazpura Hills Sunday morning.
When they tried to protest, terrorists hacked and injured them.
The injured have been identified as Md. Abdul Amin (25) and Abdullah (16), son of one of Yusuf Ali of the area.
Victim Abdullah said that about 12 armed masked men came and chased them while they were working at Pan Buro in the morning. They then ran away but the two were caught by the terrorists.
At that time, when they impeded to abduct, the terrorists hacked and injured them mercilessly.
In this regard, Rafiqul Islam, member of Baharchhara Union, Ward No. 6, said that the abductors have not contacted the families of the abductees so far. Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration) of Cox’s Bazar, Rafiqul Islam, said that several teams of police have been working to stop various crimes including the abduction and ransom in the hill area.
Earlier, six Rohingyas were allegedly abducted by unidentified miscreants on Friday when they went out of camp looking for work through a local named Belal.
The police said these Rohingyas returned to their homes after paying ransom to the terrorists.
The victims Rohingyas were identified as Md Faroas, Md Juhar, Md Noor, Nurul Haque, Jahid Hossain and Md Idris.
