Nepal confirm to play in ACC Asia Cup

Hosts Nepal confirmed their place in the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Asia Cup on Tuesday. They beat the United Arab Emirates by seven wickets in their Qualification match on Tuesday.

Batting first the United Arab Emirates scored 117 runs off 33.1 overs.

In reply, Nepal romped home making 118 runs for the loss of three wickets in 30.3 overs.

Earlier, ACC acknowledged the groups of the participating teams. A total of six teams splitting into two groups will take part in Asia Cup. India, Pakistan have been billed in Group-A. After ending the qualification Nepal will play in Group-A.

On the other hand, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan have been placed in Group-B. If everything goes well the ACC Asia Cup will be held in Pakistan in September.
Meanwhile, Board of Cricket for Control in India (BCCI) is not interested to send India team to play in Pakistan due to security concern. BCCI unofficially gave proposal to stage the Asia Cup in a neutral venue. Sri Lanka and United Arab Emirates showed their interest to host the Asia Cup.

On the other hand, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) stated if India will not compete in Asia Cup in Pakistan, the PCB will stage a five-nation series in their country. But the participating countries have not yet finalised.
