Storm hit different areas in the country

Gusty and cyclonic wind hit different areas across the country on Saturday.
Light to moderate rainfall also was recorded in different areas including the capital Dhaka after noon.
The rainfall has calmed the city dwellers from the heat wave they have been grappling with over the last several days.
As per the Bangladesh Meteorology Department (BMD), rain, storm or thundershowers hit different districts across the country.
It said that rain, thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty squally wind hit different places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Pabna, Bogura, Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Madaripur, Jessore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla and Sylhet with hails at isolated places.
Earlier, the met offices forecasted that cyclonic wind may hit with about 80 km speed over those areas.
Meanwhile, it also said that the country’s maximum temperature on Friday was recorded 36.4 degrees Celsius in Feni and Bandarban while today’s minimum temperature 20.5 degrees Celsius was recorded at Nikli.
Meanwhile, the horrifying memories and frightful moments of the devastating cyclonic storm and tidal surge of April 29, 1991 were recalled in Chattogram on Friday.
Different socio-cultural and political organisations arranged doa mahfils remembering the trail of destruction and loss of lives and property in the south-eastern part of the country caused by the devastating cyclone on the fateful night.
People of greater Chattogram region, particularly the country’s entire coastal belts are still being haunted by the frightening memories as they lost their near and dear ones in the cyclone.
The devastating cyclone hit Bangladesh on April 29, 1991, killed more than 135,000 people and causing more than $1.5 billion in damage.
