Kitchen market sees soaring prices in port city

Common people have started returning to the city after the Eid holiday. So there are still no buyers in the market. Many shops are still closed. However, the few shops that are open in the market where there are no buyers are selling vegetables, fish and chicken at high prices. A picture that can be seen while visiting the Bahaddarhat kitchen market of the city yesterday. Most vegetable, fish, meat and poultry shops are still closed.
Since Eid, various types of vegetables are being sold at above Tk 70-100 per kg in the market. Patal, brinjal, shrimp and chichinga are sold at 60 to 80 taka per kg in this market. Bitter gourd was sold at 70 to 80 taka per kg. Tomato at 30 to 40 taka depending on quality. 80 to 100 taka per kg of raw chillies. The price of each gourd was 60 to 80 taka depending on the quality. Sweet pumpkin is being sold at Tk 40 to Tk 50 per kg. Lemons are still being sold at a higher price. A medium quality piece of lemon is being sold at Tk. 20 to Tk. 25.
Meanwhile, the demand for chicken in the market is also less due to less buyers. But even though the demand is low, the price of broiler chicken has not decreased in the market. Chicken is being sold at the same price as before Eid. Even today, broiler chickens are sold at Tk 240 to Tk 250 and golden chicken at Tk 330 to Tk 340 per kg. A week ago, the price of broiler chicken was Tk 220 per kg in the market. And golden chicken price was 320 to 330 taka per kg.
