Amid the ongoing armed conflicts in Sudan, the Bangladesh Embassy and the residence of the Acting Ambassador Tarek Ahmed, located in the capital Khartoum, were hit by bullets.

According to sources at the Foreign Ministry, there is a conflict between two forces regarding power in Sudan.

As a result of the conflict, machine gun bullets hit the Bangladesh embassy building and also the residence of the Ambassador. The attack took place on April 15 and on April 22. However, no casualties were reported.

Due to the deteriorating situation in Khartoum, the ambassador and other officials have moved to the city of Madani in the Jazira Province, around 240 kilometers from Khartoum.

He is working to ensure the safety of Bangladeshis and arranging for their safe evacuation from there.

Currently, there are around 1,500 Bangladeshi citizens in Sudan, and more than 500 of them have applied to return to Bangladesh through diplomatic channels. The list of those interested in returning is being compiled.

On Tuesday, April 25th, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam on its Facebook page said that the process of repatriating Bangladeshi citizens from Sudan safely to Bangladesh through other countries has begun.

Earlier on April 15, Sudan was thrown into a feared and prolonged violent crisis as the two primary factions of the ruling military regime engaged in a bitter power struggle.
