Int’l Noise Awareness Day observed

The International Noise Awareness Day was observed across the country on Wednesday.
In Kishoreganj, Department of Environment (DoF) including District Administration arranged rally, seminar – discussion, handbills distribution and mobile court marking the International Noise Awareness Day.
DC in Kishoreganj Md.Abul Kalam Azad attended as chief guest and Zila Parishad chairman and Awami League District President advocate Zillur Rahman, Additional SP (DSB),DD in NSI Md.Iqbal were special guests, while ADC(General)Md. Farhad Chowdhury presided over the programme.
It was addressed among others by Senior Chemist of DoF Rubayet Sohorab, Dr. Mahabur Rahman of Senior Medical Officer in Civil Surgeon Office , DNCRP AD Rehdoy Ronjon Bonik, kishoreganj Transport Owners Association member secretary Alamgir Murad Reja , Journalist Noor Mohammad and Senior Assistant Commissioner & Magistrate Babul Chandra Sutradhar.
Senior Information Officer Shamsul Haque, CAB president Alam Sarowar Tito and others dignified persons were also present.
DC Abul Kalam Azad said that, Pollution cannot be controlled effectively in the country without any agency dedicated to do the entire necessary tasks including making public awareness and controlling the noise pollution.
Zila Parishad chairman Advocate Zillur Rahman said, “The lack of research on the negative impact of sound pollution, the unavailability of specific data on the menace and lack of awareness about it are affecting the fight against noise pollution,”.
Dr. Mahabur Rahman said, sound pollution causes various health problems, including hearing loss, headache and heart problems.
BSS from Naogaon reports : The International Noise Awareness Day-2023 was observed in the district to make people aware about the noise pollution.
This year the theme of the day was ‘Safe Hearing, Safe Life’ (Surakkhita Sroba?, Surakkhita Jibon).
Marking the day, a rally was brought out from the circuit house premises of the district which paraded the important streets and ended at the conference room of the deputy commissioner office Wednesday morning.
After the rally, a discussion was held in the conference room of the deputy commissioner office.
Department of Environment of Naogaon organized the programme in collaboration with district administration. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Khalid Mehdi Hasan addressed the function as the chief guest with Assistant Director of Environment Directorate of the district Md. Malin Miah was in the chair.
Superintendent of Police Muhammad Rashidul Haque, Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr Munir Ali Akand and Chairman of Sadar Upazila Parishad Alhaj Md. Rafiqul Islam addressed the function as special guests.
Among others, Naogaon Government College Principal Professor Nazmul Hasan and retired Principal Professor Mohammad Shariful Islam Khan also spoke.
