A gunfight has been allegedly took place between two armed groups in Bandarban’s Ruma upazila on Tuesday.
According to locals, clashes broke out between the United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF) and the Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) in the remote area of Mualpi neighborhood early in the morning.
After the deployment of law and order forces, the
situation calmed down. No casualty has been reported so far.
Alamgir Hossain, OC of Ruma police station, said: “We have been informed by locals that the UPDF Democratic Party and KNC have been involved in a gunfight since morning. However, no casualty has been reported so far.”
It is to be noted that eight KNF members were killed in the shooting incident between the Kuki-Chin National Front and UPDF Democratic Party in Khamthang neighborhood of Rowanchari on April 7.
The KNF, or the Bom Party, surfaced on the scene last year after the Indian border forces arrested a dozen members with arms and ammunition in Mizoram.
