Stocks witness positive trend after Eid vacation

Stocks on Monday witnessed positive trends after five-day Eid holiday as investors are showing their buying appetite on sector-wise issues.
DSEX, the key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 23.51 points or 0.38 percent to settle at 6252.16. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, and the DSE Shariah Index also advanced 10.20 points and 5.59 points to finish at 2,213.04 and 1,354.99 respectively.
Turnover, another important indicator of the market, stood at Taka 5,525.214 million on the country’s prime bourse, which is lower than the previous trading session’s turnover of Taka 5585.415 million, reports, BSS.
Of the issues traded, 204 remained unchanged while 87 issues advanced and 81 declined on the DSE floor.
HEIDELBCEM Apex Foods was the day’s top gainer, rising 9.99 per cent, while MIDLANDBNK was the worst loser, shedding 5.21 per cent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended higher with its All Shares Price Index (CASPI)-gaining 62.84 points to close at 18,416.54 and the Selective Categories Index – CSCX -advancing 37.84 points to finish at 11037.73.
Of the issues traded, 55 gained, 19 declined and 60 remained unchanged on the CSE.
