Hasan mourns death of Pankaj Bhattacharya

Information and Broadcasting Minister and Awami League Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud on Monday expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Pankaj Bhattacharya, President of Oikya NAP and one of the organisers of the country’s Liberation War.
In a message of condolence, the minister said Pankaj Bhattacharya, one of the organisers of Guerrilla Force during the great Liberation War, was actively invloved in all mass movements of the country, inclding the student movements in the 60s.
He said Pankaj was a vice-president of Student Union and later he became the executive president of the organisation before the independence. Later, he formed a platform named Sammilito Samajik Andolan and also founded the Oikya National Awami Party, known as Oikya NAP in 2010, the minister added, reports BSS.
Hasan prayed for salvation of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
Born in Noapara in the Raozan Upazila of Chattogram in 1939, Pankaj died at a hospital in the city at the age of 84.
