Bangladesh Women’s Cricket squad will leave the city for Sri Lanka on April 25 to play three One Day International (ODI) matches and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches against Sri Lanka Women’s Cricket team. Nigar Sultana has retained her captaincy.
The three-match ODI series is the part of ICC Women’s Championship.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on Tuesday the 16-member Bangladesh Women’s Cricket squad for the upcoming ODI and T20I matches. Sharmin Akhter, Rumana Ahmed, Salma Khatun, Marufa Akhter, Dilara Akter have been ruled out from the ODI squad. Shamima Sultana, Sobhana Mostary, Shorna Akter, Sultana Khatun have been included in the ODI squad.
Marufa Akhter, Salma Khatun, Rumana Ahmed have been dropped from the T20I squad. Sultana Khatun, Fariha Islam, Rabeya Khatun, Sanjida Akter have been included in the T20I squad.
Selector of Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team Monjurul Islam said, “The biggest challenge for the team in Sri Lanka will be the weather and conditions. We’ve got a nice mix of young and experienced players. We have rested a few senior players and included some players from the squad for the last Women’s Under-19 World Cup mainly because fitness will be tested there.”
Bangladesh will take on Sri Lanka in the first ODI on April 29, the Tigresses will face the hosts in the second ODI on May 2, Bangladesh will meet Sri Lanka in the third ODI on May 4.
Bangladesh will take on the hosts in the first T20I on May 9, the Tigresses will face Sri Lanka in the second T20I on May 11, Bangladesh will meet the hosts in the third T20I on May 12.
The cricketers, who have been chosen, are: Nigar Sultana (Captain), Fargana Hoque, Shamima Sultana, Fahima Khatun, Murshida Khatun, Jahanara Alam, Sanjida Akter, Sobhana Mostary, Lata Mondol, Shorna Akter, Nahida Akter, Fariha Islam, Ritu Moni, Disha Biswas, Rabeya Khatun and Sultana Khatun.
