Shakib named ICC Player of the Month for March

Shakib Al Hasan of Bangladesh has been named ICC Player of the Month for March. The International Cricket Council (ICC) released a press release on Wednesday and disclosed this matter. The ICC Player of the Month Award has been started since 2021. Shakib Al Hasan won this award for the second time. He was adjudged the ICC Player of the Month in July, 2021. Ace batter Mushfiqur Rahim of Bangladesh  was named the ICC Player of the Month for May, 2021.
Shakib Al Hasan of Bangladesh, Kane Williamson of New Zealand and Asif Khan of the United Arab Emirates was nominated for the ICC Player of the Month Award for March. Shakib Al Hasan showed a notable performance in the ongoing series against England and Ireland in last March.
Shakib Al Hasan scored 353 runs and bagged 15 wickets playing 12 international matches in the last March. Bangladesh won the third One Day International (ODI) match against the world champions England in March. Besides, Bangladesh won the three-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series 3-0 against England. Shakib Al Hasan scored 75 runs and captured four wickets against England in the last ODI. The left-arm all-rounder remained unbeaten with 34 runs against England in the first Twenty20 International (T20I) match.
Shakib Al Hasan notched up 93 runs against Ireland in the first ODI in last March. Shakib Al Hasan also retained his performance in the three-match T20I series against Ireland. Shakib claimed five wickets in three T20I series against Ireland. He remained unbeaten with 20 runs in the first T20I against Ireland. Shakib remained unbeaten with 38 runs in the second T20I against Ireland. Bangladesh defeated Ireland in ODI series and also T20I series.
After winning the ICC Player of the Month Award for March, Shakib Al Hasan said, ” I am honoured to win the Award. I am giving thanks to them who voted me to win the ICC Player of the Month Award 2023. This recognition is very valuable to me because I had a worthy performance with the outstanding cricketers of Bangladesh in last month.”
” If I have to select special something in last month, I have to say that we had a clean sweep against England in the three-match T20I series. Our teammates showed a satisfactory performance in the all departments (Batting, Bowling, Fielding). So, It was easier for me to give contributions and attention in the matches.”
