Prominent personalities demand cancelation of Prothom Alo’s   declaration

A number of prominent personalities under the banner of Sadhinota Socheton Nagorik Somaj staged a human chain protesting ‘yellow journalism’ and demanding the cancelation of the daily Prothom Alo registration.
Teachers, writers, poet, cultural personalities, artists, and  journalist among others took part at the human chain that was held at national Shaheed Minar on Thursday.
The speakers demanded to cancel the license of Prothom Alo newspaper and also bring the Prothom Alo editor Motiur Rahman under legal actions and provide them with exemplary and strict punishment.
DU vice chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman spoke as the opening speaker of the program. He said, “Recently some newspapers are trying to question the spirit of our independence. Their content disrespected our independent too and it is similar as attacking on our sovereignty.”
Ex- vice Chancellor of BSMMU Prof Dr Kamrul Hasan, Dhaka University Teachers Association (DUTA) President Dr Md Nizamul Haque Bhuiyan, Former VC of Noakhali University of Science and Technology Prof Dr  M Ahiduzzaman, Parliament member Asaduzzaman Noor,  Dr.  Moshiur Malek, Artist Rafiqul Alam, Freedom Fighter Abdus Sattar, Actor Pijush Bandyopadhyay, Actress Tanveen Sweety, Shamima Tushti, Artist Nayak Riaz, and other notable persons were present among others.
