Record amount of Boro paddy cultivated in Bhavadah beels

A record amount of Boro Paddy has been cultivated in Bhavadah two beels in Monirampur Upazila this season.
Farmers of this region have not been able to plant this amount Boro Paddy in any season before. Because in this region the two bills, Beel Kedaria and beel kopalia are inundated most of time. This beels are located in Kapalia union of Monirampur Upazila.
Local farmers said that, there is rain water in the beels for 9/10 months of the year due to Bhavadah sluice gate. But this time two areas farmers came together and they reformed Bheribadh of the beel areas. And with the help of BADC irrigation pumps have drained the water from the beela and made 80 percent of the beels land for cultivable.
Farmers in the area are smiling this Boro season. Its hard to remember when last it was last seen of this area before.
The Upazilz agriculture officer said that, during the the current Boro season, 28 thousand 1 hectares of land in the Upazila are cultivating Boro. Out of this, 1 thousand 97 hectares of land have been cultivated in Bil Kedaria And Bil Kapalia.
The previous season Boro was cultivated only 405 hectares of land. This season farmers have been able to cultivate two time more land than the previous time.
The former UNO Kabir Hossain said that, he visited the area several times. And he united the farmers. He held a meeting with the farmers on how to eliminate the water-logging.
