Bangladesh vs Ireland: Tigers win rain-hit T20 opener

Bangladesh posted a comfortable 22-run victory (according to Duckworth-Lewis-Stern Method) over Ireland in the first Twenty20 International (T20I) match at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Monday.
Sent into bat first, Bangladesh piled up a mammoth total of 207 for the loss of five wickets in 19.2 overs (before rain interrupted Bangladesh’s innings) and then restricted Ireland to 81 for the loss of five wickets in the allotted eight overs (12 overs were curtailed due to rain).
Bangladesh made a formidable start as the two openers Litton Das and Rony Talukdar put on together 91 runs in the opening stand before Litton Das caught at the mid-off by Paul starling off Craig Young.
Litton hammered a windy 47. His 23-ball innings saw three sixes and four fours.
Opener Rony and one-down Najmul Hossain Shanto added together 27 runs for the second wicket partnership before Shanto (14) was stumped out by wicketkeeper Lorcan Tucker off Harry Tector when Bangladesh’s score was 118 for the loss of two wickets.
Rony and second-down Shamim Hossain built a worthy partnership. They scored together 36 runs in the third wicket stand before Rony was bowled out by Graham Hume when total was 154 for the loss of three wickets.
Rony struck a hurricane 67. His 38-ball knock had seven fours and three sixes. He was adjudged the Man of the Match.
Shamim was caught at the extra-cover by Paul Starling off Mark Adair when Bangladesh’s total was 172 for the loss of four wickets.
Shamim made 30 from 20 deliveries featuring two fours and a sixer.  
Third-down Towhid Hridoy and fourth-down Shakib Al Hasan made a notable partnership. They contributed together 29 runs in the fifth wicket stand before Hridoy (13) was (13) was caught at the cover by Gareth Delany off Craig Young when the Tigers’ score was 201 for the loss of five wickets.
After two deliveries, it started to rain and Bangladesh’s innings came to an end. Shakib remained unbeaten with 20 runs.
Young is his team’s most successful bowler. He bagged two wickets conceding 45 runs.
Later, Ireland had a revised target of 104 in 8 overs. Ireland could score 81 for the loss of five wickets in 8.0 overs.
Bangladesh bowlers dominated and restricted Ireland to score 22 runs away from the winning target. Prolific Pacer Taskin Ahmed harpooned four wickets in the space of 16 runs, while promising pacer Hasan Mahmud took one wicket for 20 runs.
Delany was the only batter, who shone with the willow making 21(not out). He hit three fours in his 14-ball knock.
