Home yet to seek foreign ministry’s coop to bring back Arav Khan

Diplomatic Correspondent :
Amid the much talked about incident pertaining to Arav Khan, an accused of a Bangladeshi police murder case in the capital in 2018, the Foreign Ministry on Thursday came up with the information that Home Ministry has not yet sought any cooperation from them to bring him back.
The Foreign Ministry, however, stated that Arav is under the watch of Bangladesh Mission in Dubai.
Spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry Seheli Sabrin revealed the information following the questions of the journalists during the weekly press briefing in the ministry.
“The Ministry of Home Affairs is working on Arav’s case. If the Home ministry seeks any assistance from us or asks for assistance at our embassy, then we will definitely provide them with information and assistance,” she said.
“Rabiul Islam alias Arav Khan is under the watch of our Embassy in United Arab Emirates. If Home Ministry seeks information, we will provide them with information available. So far we have information that he has not been arrested,” she said.
In reply to another query if Arav Khan is possessing India passport how he will be brought back, Seheli Sabrin said, “The matter relating to passport is belonging to the concerned ministry. The concerned ministry will work on how he will be brought back by cancelling his Indian passport”.
She also commented that she do not have further information regarding Arav Kha, but she can inform the journalists after being informed by the Embassy.
Earlier, Bangladesh Police requested Interpol to issue a red notice against the fugitive accused Arav Khan, owner of Arav Jewellers in UAE.
On Monday, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun confirmed that the Interpol has accepted the letter sent by Bangladesh Police to bring back Arav Khan.
Even Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on last Saturday said to the media that efforts were underway to bring Arav Khan back.
Nearly five years later, the Arav Khan issue comes to the centre stage when a senior Detective Branch official on March 16 said cricketer Shakib al Hasan and content creator Hero Alam participated in the inauguration of Arav Jewellers in Dubai and they will be interrogated if necessary.
