298,429 candidates to vie for 5,965

A total of 2,98,429 admission seekers applied for the admission tests of four different units of Dhaka University (DU) against 5,965 seats this year.
Among them, 1,27,079 admission seekers applied for Science (Ka) unit under the supervision of Sciences Faculty, against 1,851 seats. At least 69 admission seekers will compete for a seat in this unit.
In the case of Arts, Law and Social Sciences (Kha unit), a total of 1,22,885 candidates submitted their applications for the test against 2,934 seats. In that case, 42 admission seekers will vie for a seat in this unit.
In ‘Ga’ unit, 41,368 admission seekers applied under the Business Studies Faculty against 1,050 seats. In that case, 39 admission seekers will vie for a seat in this test.
In cases of ‘Cha’ unit under the supervision of Fine Arts Faculty, 7,097 candidates will fight for 130 seats.
After the end of the online application process, Prof. Mustafizur, Convener of DU online admission committee informed The New Nation on Tuesday.
“The numbers of the candidates may enhance some after closing the application fee submission time,” he added.
The candidates will be able to download their admit card from April 18 to one hour before the examination.
Following the practice of previous years, the admission test will be held at eight districts to reduce sufferings of both students and guardians.
The admission test of the university will begin on 29 April by holding the Fine Arts (Cha) Unit admission test. The Arts, Law and Social Sciences (Kha unit) admission test scheduled to be held on May 6, Science (Ka) unit on May 12 and Business Education unit (Ga unit) on May 13.
All the exams will be taken on a total of 120 marks of which 20(10+10) marks will be counted based on GPA obtained in SSC and HSC exams, 60 marks from the MCQ exam and 40 marks from the written exam.
