13 pro-BNP lawyers get anticipatory bail over SCBA clashes

The High Court on Monday granted anticipatory bail to 13 pro-BNP lawyers including Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President candidate AM Mahbub Uddin Khokan and Secretary candidate Ruhul Quddus Kazal in three separate cases filed with Shahbagh Police Station.
They were granted anticipatory bail for eight weeks, or till submission of police reports in the cases.
The HC bench of Justice Md Salim and
Justice Md Bazlur Rahman passed the orders following three petitions filed by the accused seeking anticipatory bail in the cases.
The petitioners appeared before the HC bench during the hearing on the bail petitions.
The cases were filed on charges of snatching away ballot papers of SCBA election, preventing police from discharging duties and vandalism during the elections on March 15 and 16.
Chief of SCBA election conducting sub-committee Md Moniruzzaman, SCBA’s administrative officer Robiul Islam police filed the cases with Shahbagh Police Station on the same dates.
