BAU’s annual research progress workshop begins

The three-day Bangladesh Agricultural University’s Annual Research Progress Workshop-2021-2022 began at the University on Saturday.
The theme of the workshop was ‘Sustainable and Smart Agriculture for Land, Food and Future’.
Professor Dr. Shamsul Alam , State Minister, Ministry of Planning, Government of Bangladesh was present as the chief guest. The former senior secretary of the Prime Minister’s office Sajjadul Hassan and the senior technical advisor of Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)-Bangladesh Dr.Katarzyna Czaplicka were the special guests. BAU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Lutful Hasan was the chief patron while BAU’s Research Director Prof. Dr. Md. Zainul Abedin presided over the inaugural session.
Global Research Impact Recognition Award-2022 was given to the best 17 researchers based on H-Index, the international standard of research evaluation, at the opening ceremony of the workshop. In addition, 6 entrepreneurs at the farm level were awarded ‘Professor Dr.’ Ashraf Ali Khan Memorial Agriculture Award-2022′.
A total of 18 technical sessions and two poster sessions will be held in the upcoming 2-day workshop. Results of 539 research projects will be presented in these sessions.
This includes 385 oral and 154 poster presentations. Out of the presented research projects, a total of 18 people, 1 person from the technical session and 3 people from each poster session, a total of 6 people will be awarded the best presenter award.
It is to be noted that the University Grants Commission has provided Tk 9.60 million for conducting research activities this year.
