Shakib makes new record reaches 7000-run club

Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan made new record in One Day International (ODI) cricket on Saturday. He is the third all-rounder in the world cricket who scored 7000 runs and captured 301 wickets in ODI cricket. He is the first Bangladesh cricketer who achieved this feat. Sanath Jayasuriya of Sri Lanka scored 13430 runs and bagged 323 wickets playing 445 matches.
Shahid Afridi of Pakistan scored 8064 runs and claimed 305 wickets.
Shakib Al Hasan is the first Bangladesh all-rounder, who earned this prestigious feat.
Earlier, Shakib Al Hasan reached the 300-run wicket landmark after dismissed Rehan Ahmed in the Third ODI against England at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium recently. Shakib needed just 24 runs to reach the 7000-run landmark. After scoring more 23 runs, Shakib reached the 7000-run landmark after taking a single run of the 20th over against Ireland at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Saturday. He took a single run of Curtis Campher of Ireland delivery.
He scored 7069 runs and captured 300 wickets after playing 228 ODI matches.
It may be mentioned that Sanath Jayasuriya of Sri Lanka captured 300 runs and seven thousand runs in his 397th match against Bangladesh at Colombo, the capital city of Sri Lanka in 2007.
On the other hand, Shahid Afridi reached his 7000-run landmark against India in the Asia Cup Cricket at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in 2012. It was his 341st ODI match.
