EVM machine snatched in Boalkhali

Boalkhali upazila and the Nazirhat pourasava elections held peacefully without any sporadic incidents , but a report of snatching EVM machine in Boalkhali revealed .
A local Jubo League leader snatched the EVM machine from a center in Boalkhali Upazila Parishad by-election.The incident took place on Thursday (March 16) afternoon at Jayasthpura Ramnimohan High School centre. It is known that the person who snatched the ballot unit of the EVM is the joint convenor of Union Jubo League, Nimarlendu dey Sumon. He entered booth number 5 of that center and took the ballot unit., when the unit went to the temporary election camp outside the center with the boat symbol, local union Awami League president Ratan Chowdhury returned it to the presiding officer.When reporters asked Nirmalendu about snatching the ballot unit, he said he took it to teach the voters.
Center presiding officer Sajal Das told reporters that this panel was damaged. The first EVM voting is taking place in this centre.
So voters were given booths to show up. I don’t know how the panel got out. It is a crime to take it outside. I am looking into this.
Not only this incident, in the residence of Awami League nominated candidate Rezaul Karim, at Dighir Par Government Primary School Center, the followers of the boat were seen voting in a secret room even though the voters gave their fingerprints. This center was under the control of Jubo League leader Shahadat Hossain, the convenor of the boat’s center committee. No agents of the other two candidates were seen.
Election Returning Officer and District Election Officer Jahangir Hossain claimed that no untoward incident took place in the centre. He told that there is no opportunity to take the ballot unit outside. Action will be taken against anyone who has done such a thing.
It is noted that in addition to one candidate nominated by Awami League, two more candidates contested in the by-election. Voting starts at 8 am and ends at 4 pm.
Meanwhile , the election of Nazirhat pourasava under Fatikchari upazila ended without any nuisances and chaos, said District election officer. Election held in 22 centres in 9 wards of the pourasava peacefully, he added.
