Earthquake and Fire drills were held in Sirajganj

On the occasion of National Disaster Preparedness Day an awareness-raising simulation and drill exercise on Earthquake and Fire held on with the slogan ‘Smart Bangladesh’s Commitments Always Disaster Preparedness ‘. The exercise held at Victoria High School playground in the Sirajganj city recently.
The programme organized by District Administration and Department of Disaster Management, Sirajganj collaboration with Koria International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) funded DRR Project implement by Manab Mukti Sangstha (MMS)
In the drill, various techniques are demonstrated on earthquake and fire prevention, extinguishing, rescue, and emergency evacuation. Apart from this, awareness is given about what to do at the community and individual level during earthquakes and fires to reduce the damage. The exercise was conducted by Sirajganj Fire Service and Civil Defense.
Project Director (Joint Secretary) Department of Disaster Management, Dhaka, Nishchinta Kumar Podder was present as the chief guest. In the speech of the chief guest, he said that the present government has been implementing various disaster management activities across the country through the Department of Disaster Management. At present, earthquakes and fires are causing massive damage, so awareness should be increased to ensure the safety of people’s lives and property.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Md. Raihan Kabir was the chired in the event and Md. Riaz Uddin, Chairman, Upazila Parishad, Sirajganj Sadar, Municipality Panel Mayor-01 Md. Nurul Haque was the special guest.
