Biman flights on Ctg-Kolkata route demanded
Chattogram Bureau :
Chattogram Chamber President Mahbubul Alam urge State Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism Mahbub Ali to take initiative to launch direct flights of Biman Bangladesh Airlines from Chittagong, the commercial capital, to Kolkata in India.. The president of the chamber made this call in a letter on Sunday.
In the letter, the president of the chamber said that the movement of people from both countries has increased significantly due to mutual trade with India and medical and tourism. Although there are daily flights from Dhaka to Kolkata, there is no direct flight with Chittagong.
In this case, to come to Chittagong or to go to India from Chittagong, travelers have to travel through Dhaka, which is costly and time-consuming. However, a private company is operating one daily Chittagong-Kolkata flight. But compared to the demand of traders, medical service seekers and tourists in the region, it is very insufficient and tickets are very difficult to get. As a result, when foreign investors come to Chittagong or businessmen and medical service seekers from Chittagong go to Kolkata, they have to travel through Dhaka, which is a waste of time and money as well as a lot of suffering. Keeping in view the growing number of passengers and demand, ensuring Chittagong-Kolkata direct flight is urgently required.
Therefore, considering the context, Chamber President Mahbubul Alam made a special request to the Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Tourism on behalf of the businessmen of Chittagong to take effective steps to start Chittagong-Kolkata direct flights.
