Azadur Rahman’s successful plum cultivator in Kamalganj

Azadur Rahman is the role model in plum cultivation in Shamshernagar of Kamalganj upazila.
In his garden there are apple kul, baukul, jambukul and Dhaka-90 kul. After meeting the needs of the area, these plums are being commercially supplied to different parts of the country including Dhaka and Chittagong. Looking around this garden, there are only plums and plums. Young trees bowed under the weight of plums.
Azadur Rahman said that the interest of the farmers in plum cultivation is increasing due to the low cost and high profit. In the meantime, many people have been successful in cultivating this fruit. Due to low capital and low risk, many people have got success by cultivating plums in different parts of the country. Bumper yields of plums are two to three times more profitable than costs. Farmers are happy with it. Day by day other farmers are also getting interested in this fruit cultivation.
According to the upazila agriculture department, sweet plums have been planted in Kamalganj this season due to favorable weather and soil characteristics. As Azad’s garden is well cultivated plums meet the needs of the area, he has become a model for many people in the area by cultivating plums. Seeing him, many people are now turning to plum cultivation.

Covered in trees-90 Kule. The branches with the tree are bent down under the weight of the fruit. Each tree is supported by bamboo poles. The entire garden is covered with netting to protect the plums from birds.
