Sunflowers cultivation spreading in Ishwardi

Sunflower is a beautiful plant in nature. One cannot help but be impressed by the beautiful yellow hue of this flower. From a distance, it looks like a huge yellow carpet has been laid. The sunflower smiles, and in its smile nature is beautiful.
Such a large garden of sunflowers like Ishwardi has not been seen anywhere else in Pabna district before. More than 2 acres of land have been cultivated with sunflowers in the field of Regional Agricultural Research Center. The entire area is covered in the yellow glow of sunflowers. So flower lovers are flocking to the sunflower garden throughout the day.
Fahmida Shapla, a visitor who came to see sunflowers, said that they come here to take a walk in the open air and see the garden full of flowers. But the natural environment looks very beautiful. So everyone is capturing this beautiful scene in the frame of the camera.
According to the Agriculture Office, Ishwardi’s soil and climate are suitable for sunflower cultivation. Sunflower farming has immense potential to be profitable with less investment of time and money. Oil, oil and fuel are obtained from sunflower flowers. At least half a liter of oil can be produced per kg of seeds. 7 to 10 maunds of seed are produced per bigha of land. And oil production will be from 140 liters to 200 liters per bigha. The market price of oil per liter is Tk 250-300. The maximum cost of the breakdown is three and a half thousand taka. Due to the skyrocketing price of edible oil in the current market, the demand for mustard and sunflower oil has increased.
Regional Agricultural Research Center’s chief scientific officer of the project to increase the production of oil crops. Ferdowsi Begum said that the government has taken the initiative of sunflower cultivation on a large scale to meet the shortage of oil in the country. With this aim, the shortage of edible oil in the country will be met through extensive planting of new sunflowers of Bari-3 variety.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Agriculturist Mita Sarkar said that the local agriculture department is working on various initiatives for the spread and popularity of sunflower cultivation in Ishwardi.
Dal Research Center and Ishwardi Regional Agricultural Research Center Director Dr. Mohiuddin said, the sunflower oil of this short variety contains antioxidants. Which plays a role in preventing cancer. Due to its high vitamin E content, it is very beneficial for preventing female infertility and brightening the skin. That is why we have taken initiatives to spread the breed at the farmer level.
