England Cricket team won the One Day International (ODI) series 2-0 remaining with one ODI match as the tourists defeated Bangladesh Cricket team by 132 runs in the second One Day International (ODI) match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Friday.
Sent into bat first, England piled up a mammoth total of 326 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 50 overs and then bundled out Bangladesh for 194 off 44.4 overs.
England had a modest start as opener Phil Salt (7) was caught at the slip by Najmul Hossain Shanto off Taskin Ahmed when England’s total was 25.
Opener Jason Roy and one-down Dawid Malan mended the innings scoring together 58 runs in the second wicket stand before Malan (11) was trapped leg before wicket by Mahidy Hasan Miraz when England’s total was 83 for the loss of two wickets.
After Malan’s dismissal, Roy and Jos Buttler built the most valuable partnership contributing together 109 runs for the fourth wicket partnership before Roy was trapped leg before wicket by Shakib Al Hasan when the touring side’s score was 205 for the loss of four wickets.
Roy hit a terrific 132. His 124-ball innings was laced with 18 fours and a sixer. Roy was adjudged the Man of the Match. Later, Jos Buttler and Moeen Ali made an another notable partnership adding together 52 runs in the six-wicket stand before Buttler caught & bowled by Miraz when the visitors’ total was 260 for the loss of six wickets.
Buttler notched up a polished 76. His 64-ball knock saw five fours and two sixes. Moeen and Sam Curran added together 39 runs in the seventh wicket partnership before Mooen was caught at the square leg by Litton Das off Taskin Ahmed when England’s score was 299 for the loss of seven wickets.
Moeen made 42 from 35 deliveries featuring three fours and two sixes.
Curran remained unbeaten with 33 runs.
Taskin Ahmed captured three wickets in the space of 66 runs, while Miraz got two wickets conceding 73 runs.
Shakib and Taijul took one wicket apiece.
Later, Bangladesh lost early three wickets for just nine runs.
Opener Tamim Iqbal and third-down Shakib repaired the damage adding together 79 runs for the fourth wicket partnership before Tamim was caught by James Vince off Moeen when Bangladesh’s score was 88 for the loss of four wickets.
Tamim scored 35 playing 65 deliveries including four fours.
Shakib and Mahmudullah added 34 runs in the five-wicket stand before Shakib was caught at the mid-off by Curran off Moeen when the hosts’ total was 122 for the loss of five wickets.
Shakib notched up a marvelous 58. His 69-ball knock had five fours.
Then, Mahmudullah and Afif Hossain contributed together 38 runs for the sixth wicket partnership before Afif (23) was caught behind by wicketkeeper Jos Buttler off Adil Rashid when Bangladesh’s score was 167 for the loss of six wickets.
After Afif’s departure, Bangladesh batters failed to make any notable partnership.
Mahmudullah scored 32 from 49 balls including three fours.
Curran and Adil Rashid claimed four wickets each instead of 29 and 45 runs respectively.
