Escape of two militants is our failure: RAB DG
Staff Reporter :
Escape of two militants from the court premises is our failure, said M Khurshid Hossain, Director General (DG) of the elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).
“There was a lack of coordination among the members of law enforcement. If other agencies work in coordination with the police, such kind of incident will not happen in future, DG said”.
The RAB DG came up with the remark while addressing the journalists after placing a wreath at the portrait of the Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Dhanmondi in the city on Thursday.
There is a possibility that the United States might relax the sanctions on the Rapid Action Battalion, force’s Director General Khurshid Hossain also added.
On November 20, the militants’ associates snatched away two militants from the premises of Dhaka Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court by beating the law enforcers and spraying some chemicals on their eyes.
Meanwhile, 33 out of 55 home-left youth have been identified who response to the ‘Hijraat’ led by the new militant organisation Jamatul Ansar Phil Hindal Sharqiya. 12 of them have been arrested. Apart from this, the remaining 21 are in the training camp of the militants. The elite force RAB is conducting an operation to arrest rest of them.
Commander Khandaker Al Moin, Director of RAB’s Legal and Media Wing, said this at a press conference organised at RAB’s media center in the capital’s Caravanbazar on Thursday (March 2).
The RAB informed this news after the recovery of the video content of the new militant organisation’s Amir Anisur Rahman alias Mahmud and Abdullah Maimun, the head of the Dawati branch. On February 28, RAB arrested four more people who were trained in the hills. Meanwhile, the video was recovered from the arrested Al Amin alias Milduk, RAB officials said.
