Hawkers will be fined if they sit again

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has decided to categorise the road from Bangabhavan to Zero Point and Mayor Mohammad Hanif Flyover to Gulistan Squire (Chattar) as ‘red’.
According to the decision, this road and the sidewalks adjacent to the important buildings and roads will always be free of hawkers. The City Corporation will take action as per law if the hawkers sit on the pavement of this road with their products again.
These decisions have been mentioned in the minutes of the first meeting of the committee formed to keep roads and footpaths in the area under the jurisdiction of South City Corporation free for vehicles and people, published on the website of DSCC on Tuesday (February 28).
Recently, the meeting of this committee was also held at Nagar Bhaban. In the meeting, convener of the committee and city planner Nazrul Islam and member secretary Kazi Nor Kawsar presented the agenda of the meeting in details.
Urban planner. Nazrul Islam said that as the road from Bangabhaban to Gulistan to Zero Point and from Hanif flyover to Gulistan Chattar is an important road for going towards Bangabhaban and Padma Bridge, so it is important to keep the mentioned road free of hawkers by classifying it as red.
The South City Mayor also instructed in this regard. For this, it is necessary to take appropriate measures through the property department. The property officer, councilor and executive engineer were present in the meeting and agreed with Nazrul Islam.
Farid Uddin Ahmed Ratan, one of the members of the committee and the councilor of ward number 20, spoke at the meeting.
