Five BCL activists expelled from Hall over raging incident

A leader and her four activists of Islamic University unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) have been expelled, on Monday, from Deshratna Sheikh Hasina Hall permanently as the hall authorities found their involvement in harassing and torturing a fresher of Finance and Banking Department of the university.
The decision came from an emergency meeting, held at the Sheikh Hasina Hall, chaired by its provost Professor M Shamsul Islam in the chair attended by the member of hall investigation committee, formed over, ragging incident.
The expelled students are IU BCL unit vice-president Shanjida Chowdhury Ontora of Statistics Department, her cohorts Tabassum and Maobiya
of finance and banking department, Halima Khatun Urmi of fine arts department and Israt Jahan Mim of Law Department.
IU Deshratna Sheikh Hasina Hall provost Professor Shamsul Islam said, they expelled Shanjida Chowdhury Ontora and four others as the probe body formed by the hall administration found their involvement in harassing and torturing the first year student of finance and banking department of the university. The probe bodies submitted their probe reports to the university administration on Sunday. The probe body formed by the IU BCL unit also submitted their investigation report to the central BCL for further action.
Mentioned, On February 12 night, a first-year female student of Finance and Banking Department was tortured and harassed reportedly by IU BCL unit vice-president Shanjida Chowdhury Ontora and her activists, including Tabassum, Israt Jahan Mim, Halima Khatun Urmi and Maobiya, at Deshratna Sheikh Hasina Hall on the university campus in Kushtia.
Two probe bodies were formed by the Islamic University authorities and the Deshratna Sheikh Hasina Hall administration respectively after the victim had lodged written complaints to the proctor and student adviser and hall provost.
The probe bodies submitted their probe reports to the university administration on Sunday.
The probe body formed by the IU BCL unit also submitted their investigation report to the central BCL for further action on Sunday.
