Imam killed at Rohingya camp

The body of a Rohingya man has been recovered from a camp in Ukhia upazil of Cox’s Bazar, 14-hour after he was kidnapped from his house.
The deceased was identified as Samsu Alam, 38, a resident of No-17 Rohingya camp. He was imam of a local mosque.
Victim body was found near Chara in Camp-20 Hill area of Ukhia around 5 am on Saturday (February 25).
Family members and 14 APBN commanders Additional DIG Syed Haron Rashid suspect that members of Arsa terrorists killed him due to group based conflict.
According to sources, Maulvi Samsu Alam came out of his house to say Fajr prayers.
He did not return even after the prayer. Later, people saw a dead body lying on the side of the hill and gathered there. Later, locals marked him as Maulvi Samsu after going there. The Rohingyas believe that he was picked up while he was going to say Fajar prayers and beaten and suffocated to death near the hilly area at the end of Camp 20.
After killing him, miscreants left the spot.
Additional DIG Syed Haron Rashid, also commander of 14-APBN said, “I learned from the investigation that the deceased Samsu and his family members were associated with a controversial Arsa group. Due to these reasons, he may have been killed due to conflict.
