All set to observe Amar Ekushey in districts

Different government, non-government, volunteer and cultural organizations including the Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) and the district and the divisional administrations have chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the Amar Ekushey and International Mother Language Day in a befitting manner here Tuesday.
The programmes include placing floral wreaths at Shaheed Minar, hoisting of national flags at half-mast atop all public and private buildings and holding mourning processions.
Marking the day, the city streets will be adorned with miniature national flags and coloured flags inscribed with Bengali alphabets.
The programmes also include recitation from the holy Quran and discussion at the Islamic Foundation office, art and literary competitions for school and college students at the Shishu Academy and screening of documentary films on the Language Movement.
Language veterans will be accorded a reception on the occasion.
Besides, a discussion and cultural function will be organised at the auditorium of Shilpakala Academy, officials said.
The RCC has taken up elaborate programmes to observe the day.
City Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton is likely to open the day’s programme by placing wreaths at Bhuban Mohan Park Shaheed Minar in the morning.
Meanwhile, Rajshahi University, Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology, Rajshahi Medical University, Rajshahi Education Board and other public and private educational institutions have drawn up different programmes to observe the day.
Tight security measures at Kishoreganj Shaheed Minar
Sr.Staff Reporter, Kishoreganj says: The tight security measures have been taken to avoid any untoward situation at Shaheed Minar in Kishoreganj celebrating the International Mother Language Day on Tuesday ( February 21).
Police Super (SP) of Kishoreganj Mohammad Rasel Sheikh PPM (Bar) saif that, we are implementation tight security measures at Shaheed Minar and others important place.
There is not any threat terrorist attack centering the celebration on 21. February., sp added.
BSS from Rangpur adds: All necessary preparations have been completed to observe the “Shaheed Dibash and International Mother Language Day-paying rich tribute to the Language Movement Martyrs in the district on Tuesday.
District administration officials said the observance will begin with placing of wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar in the city at one minute past midnight to pay due respect to the Language Movement Martyrs.
Divisional Commissioner Md. Sabirul Islam, Deputy Inspector General for Rangpur Range Police Mohd Abdul Alim Mahmud, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Nure Alam Mina, Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Chitralekha Nazneen and Superintendent of Police Md. Ferdous Ali Chowdhury and senior officials will first place wreaths there to be followed by other government and non-government departments andorganisations.
Later, District Council Chairman and former District Muktijoddha Commander heroic freedom fighter Mosaddek Hossain Bablu, leaders of the district and city units of Awami League and other political parties, professionalorganisations and commoners will place wreaths.
The other programmes chalked out include hoisting of national flag at half-mast atop all buildings, educational institutions with the sunrise,decoration of city streets with miniature national and colored-flags inscribed with Bengali alphabets.
Besides, competitions on drawing, recitation, essay writing, descent handwriting and patriotic songs for children will be arranged a day ahead on February 20 at the Shishu Academy premises and documentary films will bescreened on the language movement.
The local dailies, online and other newspapers will publish special issues and Rangpur Betar Kendra air special programmes narrating significance of the day.
A poetry festival and cultural functions will be organised to mark significance of the day and special prayers will be offered at mosques, temples, churches, pagodas and other places of religious worship.
Rangpur City Corporation, Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur Medical College and other educational institutions, sociocultural, political and professional organisations will observe the day in a befitting manner.
