Mahbub Ali remembered on 42nd death anniversary

Family members of former Bangladesh Navy Chief Rear Admiral Mahbub Ali Khan on Thursday paid floral tributes at his grave and offered special prayers to mark his 42nd death anniversary.

His daughters, Shahina Khan Zaman and Dr Zubaida Rahman, and granddaughter Zaima Rahman visited the Banani Military Graveyard in the morning, where they laid wreaths on behalf of the family and recited Fateha.

The family observed the anniversary with prayers and remembrance ceremonies honouring the former naval chief and statesman.

After laying floral tributes at the grave, Shahina Khan Zaman, Dr Zubaida Rahman and Zaima Rahman offered Fateha and special prayers. Zubaida Rahman and Zaima Rahman also spent time in silent prayer at the graveside.

A Quran Khatam and doa mahfil were held at the military graveyard as part of the observance.
Another doa mahfil is scheduled to take place after Maghrib prayers at the family’s Dhanmondi residence, Mahbub Bhaban.

According to a family press release, Mahbub Ali Khan is being remembered through various programmes both at home and abroad, including grave visits, milad mahfils, doa gatherings and discussion meetings.

Rear Admiral Mahbub Ali Khan became Chief of the Bangladesh Navy in 1979. He later served as Minister for Communications and Agriculture in the government of late President Ziaur Rahman.
The father-in-law of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman died on August 6, 1984.

He is survived by his wife, Syeda Iqbal Mand Banu, and two daughters, Shahina Khan Zaman and Dr Zubaida Rahman.
