Their respect to martyrs on Mother Language Day

Sheikh Arif Bulbon :
Today is the International Mother Language Day. On this day, various state events are held throughout the day in Dhaka and outside Dhaka across the country. Various
programmes are also aired on different television channels. Language martyrs are honoured at various Shaheed Minars. Some recite Dua Durood while visiting the graves of the
martyrs. Others keep track of the families of the martyrs. All in all, everybody tries to pay respect to the language martyrs as best can
on the day. Celebrities also paid tribute to
language martyrs on the day.
Tanvin Sweety (actress)
“I have deep respect to martyrs of all languages on International Mother Language Day. It is because of their sacrifice that we have Bengali language today. So today at dawn I will go to Shaheed Minar to greet them with flowers. I have also a special request to all on this language day that we all show due respect to our language martyrs.”
Mir Sabbir (actor)
“Usually on 21 February, on 26 March and on 16 December I do not have any work. During the days I stay with my family especially because I try to convince my two sons about the greatness of these days. I myself am particularly respectful of the days. That respect, love and absolute devotion should develop in my children, this is my wish. That’s why I stay with my family during the days. As usual, I will pay floral tribute to Shaheed Minar today on February 21. After that I will stay at home for the rest of the time.”
Purnima (film actress)
“During childhood, I have visited Shaheed Minar many times for Shishu Academy. I went up to the Shaheed Minar barefoot and paid my respects. I have been there for various events in matured age as well. I grew up seeing the culture that was on this Martyr’s Day in our schools and colleges as a child. That culture still exists. I try to explain to my daughter about these very special days. On the day, wearing black clothes to pay respect to the martyrs also carries a special significance. So all in all there is a maximum effort to show respect to the martyrs.”
Dilshad Nahar Kona (singer)
“I have respect and love to language martyrs. It is because of them that we can speak Bengali today. It is beyond words how big it means to us. I also did not put up any shows on the day. I will spend time with my family. As usual, I will go to Shaheed Minar first to pay floral tributes to the martyrs.”
Apu Biswas (film actress)
“This International Mother Language Day is actually celebrated by all of these languages together wherever we live in the world. That’s a lot of fun. Everyone pays respect and respect to language martyrs on this day. As many Bengalis as there are in Bangladesh and Kolkata, we celebrate the day together beautifully. On this special day, I will be in Siliguri with my child. I have been trying to teach my child pure Bengali language since childhood.”
Sonia Hossain (presenter and actress)
“On that day, my husband Steve and I went to Shaheed Minar early in the morning. We show due respect to the martyrs. Then come home, I don’t do any work on this day. I spend time with family.”
Tanjin Tisha (TV actress)
“I have utmost respect for all language martyrs. It is really because of their sacrifice that I can speak such a beautiful language. Is there anywhere else in the world such a sweet language like Bengali? I don’t think so. When I go abroad, I have to speak another language. But when I came back to the country and started speaking Bengali at the airport, I felt like I got my life back. The comfort, the peace, in speaking one’s own language is indescribable.”
Symon Sadik (film actor)
“On this great day, we pay our respects to language martyrs. I visit the Central Shaheed Minar twice on this special day – once in the night before and once in the afternoon. In the morning, I go to BFDC. I go to Central Shahed Minar with my family. But today is also a special day for my family because on this day my wife Deepa came into the world. But we don’t celebrate the day. Our entire family respects the language martyrs.”
