EVM a modern tool to rig votes: GM Quader
Staff Reporter :
Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader has said that voters did not want to exercise their franchise through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) as they think that it is a modern machine to rig votes.
“Country’s general people don’t have trust in EVM. They don’t want to cast votes through this machine because they think that it a modern machine to rig votes,” he said during a view-exchange meeting with the leaders of the Jatiya Matshyajibi Party at the Jatiya Party’s Central Office in the capital.
“All political parties except Awami League and their allies have given their opinions against the EVM during the dialogue with the Election Commission. Despite such opposition, the Commission is continuing its efforts to take votes by this machine,” he said.
“Even EC is spending crores of money to run the dysfunctional EVM. Country’s people are looking at this initiative with suspicion,” he continued.
