Head Coach of Bangladesh Cricket team Chandika Hathurusingha will arrive in Dhaka today. A BCB officials said, “Chandika Hathurusingha will land at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the city at 10.40pm from Sri Lanka today. He will take one-day leisure. After that, the coaching camp of Bangladesh Cricket team will start under supervision of Sri Lanka-born Head Coach Chandika.”
Hathurusingha acted as Head Coach of Bangladesh Cricket team from 2014 to 2017. After Bangladesh’s South Africa tour in 2017, Chandika submitted his resignation letter to BCB. The 54-year old Chandika will start his second tenure as Head Coach of Bangladesh Cricket team. Hathurusingha will be the Head Coach of Bangladesh team in all three formats.
The Pace Bowling Coach of Bangladesh Cricket team Allan Donald will join him on the same day. The former speedster
of South Africa left Dhaka for South Africa after India series to spend his time with his family members.
Earlier, Bangladesh team got some noted successes under the supervision of Chandika Hathurusingha. Bangladesh defeated India, Pakistan and South Africa in ODI series under the supervision of Chandika. Besides, Bangladesh reached the quarter-final of the ICC World Cup 2015. Bangladesh played in the semi-final of the Champions Trophy in 2017. Bangladesh won against Australia, Sri Lanka and England in Test matches during his tenure.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on February 16 the 14-member Bangladesh ODI Cricket team for the upcoming three-match ODI series against England. Bangladesh will take on England in the first ODI at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on March 1. Bangladesh will face England in the second ODI at the same venue on March 3. Bangladesh will meet England in the third ODI at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on March 6.
Bangladesh ODI squad: Tamim Iqbal (Captain), Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah Riyad, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Litton Das, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Afif Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Ebadot Hossain, Hasan Mahmud, Taijul Islam and Towhid Hridoy.
