Life term penalty for 2 women in Ctg drug case

A Chattogram court has sentenced two women to life imprisonment in a drug case of city’s Baklia police station. In addition to this, each has been fined Tk 10,000 on Wednesday.
The Fourth Additional ChattogramMetropolitan Sessions Judge Shariful Alam’s Court gave this verdict.
The accused are Jamila Khatun (28), wife of Mahabul Alam of Sultan Ahmed’s house in West Haludiya of Ukhia police station of Cox’s Bazar district, and Gulzar Begum (32), wife of Dil Bahar of Ramu police station’s murderer Palong Abdur Rahman of the same district.Additional PP Abu Zafar confirmed the matter to media.
According to the documents of the case, on January 20, 2020, Jamila Khatun and Gulzar Begum were arrested by the Directorate of Narcotics Control from the Shyamoli Paribahan bus in front of the Rajbari Convention Center on the east side of Bashruzzaman Chattar of the city’s Baklia Police Station. At this time, 1,950 pieces of Yaba were recovered from a vanity bag of Jamila Khatun’s right hand and 1,900 pieces of yaba from a vanity bag of Gulzar Begum’s left hand. In this incidentDeputy Inspector (SI) Office of Narcotics Control Directorate Chattogram Metro (South) Md. Zahidul Islam became the plaintiff and filed a case at the Baklia police station of the city.
On March 15, 2022, Sub-Inspector (SI) Nasreen Parveen Rumi Talukder, the investigating officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet to the court.
On August 17, 2022, a complaint was filed against the two in the court. In this case, the court accepted the testimony of 6 people.
